Counselors work closely with students to develop competencies in the areas of educational, personal and vocational development. Through individual counseling, guidance seminars, and group presentations, counselors help students understand their learning strengths and weaknesses, select appropriate courses, plan for the transition to college and careers, and meet personal challenges in a mature, productive way.

Peer Helpers

In an effort to reach out to our students regarding important decisions in their lives, a program of Peer Helpers has been introduced at Bel Air. Peers helping peers is one of the reasons why this program works. Peer Helpers, who are juniors and seniors, represent the diversity of our student body in terms of personality and talents, which is one reason why rapport is easily established.

After attending and completing a Peer Helper Training, students work with one another. Peer Helpers devote untold hours being trained by their advisors, and working with their peers.

Further information about this program is available by contacting our Mr. Rob Neumer in the Guidance Department at 410-638-4600.
